After having a baby your body takes time to recover and with caring for a new baby it can take a long time. Back pain
(from sitting and feeding or pregnancy), pelvic pain from the birth or from SPD, or just general aching and discomfort
from your body adjusting to looking after and carrying a new baby and car seat, are just a few examples of problems
that can occur postnatal. Osteopathy can help the body to realign and recover properly from pregnancy and birth,
allowing your body to recover properly.
Gentle osteopathic techniques such as mobilizing the pelvis and back, massage to tight and sore muscles and exercise
advice to support and maintain alignment can all be part of osteopathic treatment that can effectively help problems
after child birth.
A patient of the practice presented with pelvic pain following the birth of her second child. She had had pelvic pain
and a feeling that she was lying down on a pebble, for the six months after giving birth. Osteopathic consultation
showed that her pelvis had not realigned correctly. So she had osteopathic treatment from an Osteopath at the practice
and after two sessions, followed by a check up appointment a month later, the problem resolved.
